Avanti, the principal dental specialist at Mind Body Teeth is excited to bring her passion and skillset to private practice. She has been a dedicated advocate for her patients with special health care needs for the last 20 years.
After completing her Bachelor of Dental Surgery with the University of Adelaide, Avanti returned home to Sydney in 2004. She decided to round out her training with an internship year at Westmead hospital, where she discovered her calling for caring for those with special health needs. She went on to become the first graduate of the Doctor of Clinical Dentistry (Special Needs Dentistry) program with the University of Sydney and also completed a concurrent Master of Health Science in Developmental Disability.
Avanti currently has appointments with Sydney West Local Health District (Staff Specialist- Special Needs Dentistry) and Sydney Adventist Hospital.
Avanti is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons (FRACDS) and currently serves as the Past President of the Australia New Zealand Academy of Special Needs Dentistry (ANZASND). She is a member of the CERA Geriatric Oral Health Reference Group, Australian Society of Special Care Dentistry (ASSCID) and Australian Dental Association (ADA).
As a lifelong learner, Avanti is committed to learning, teaching and research at her Alma Mater the University of Sydney. She teaches into the undergraduate and post-graduate syllabus in Special Needs Dentistry as a Honorary Clinical Lecturer with the University of Sydney. Avanti lectures extensively at numerous national and international conferences.

BDS 2003 University of Adelaide
Bachelor of Dental Surgery is a 5 year full time course to allow for registration as a General Dentist with AHPRA
Doctor of Clinical Dentistry (Special Needs Dentistry) is a 3 year full time clinical, research based immersive training program. This specialist training is required to register as a Dental Specialist with AHPRA. This rigorous training based out of Westmead hospital allowed Avanti to navigate the most complex cases in NSW.

DCLIN DENT (SND) - University of Sydney
Masters in Health Science (Developmental Disability)- a 2 year post-graduate multi-disciplinary program which covered lifespan issues in Developmental Disability, with focus on Autism Spectrum Disorders; Speech and Communication; Mental Health; Physical Health and Positive Behaviour Support in Developmental Disability. This trans-disciplinary program allows Avanti to take a holistic approach to healthcare.

Avanti successfully completed her Primary Examinations in 2004, Fellowship examinations in 2008 and Membership examination in 2010. She is proud to be a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons and serves on the Board of Studies for Special Needs Dentistry.

Dr Li is a strong advocate of persons with special needs. She has previously worked alongside Dr Karve in public practice in Special Needs Dentistry
A University Medallist and Honours graduate from the University of Adelaide, Dr Li has built a reputation for her clinical excellence, calm demeanour, and deeply compassionate approach to patient care.
Her research expertise in vulnerable populations and genuine passion for supporting patients with complex needs make her an exceptional addition to our team — and a tremendous asset to the families and communities we serve.
Oral Health Therapist
Jacquie Biggar
With a strong passion for geriatric and special needs dentistry, Jacquie will play a key role in expanding our oral therapy services, bringing exceptional leadership and clinical excellence.
Jacquie will lead our outreach service to local nursing homes and group homes, bringing high-quality oral care directly to patients who need it most.
As a recipient of the Jane Chalmers Memorial Award in Special Needs Dentistry with the University of Adelaide, Jacquie now holds an academic position with the University of Sydney teaching into the Bachelor of Oral Hygiene Program.

Dianne
Dianne (Di) our Practice manager brings a wealth of specialist dental practice experience of 30+ years to Mind Body Teeth.
Di is the backbone of the practice and keeps all of the various parts moving in concert.
You might see Di in the clinic, at the desk or even in theatre!
Dental Assistant
Sierra
Our Dental Assistant Sierra plays a key role in supporting our clinicians and ensuring every patient feels comfortable and well cared for.
She prepares treatment rooms, assists during procedures, and helps maintain a smooth, efficient workflow.
With a warm, energy and a reassuring approach, Sierra also educates patients on oral hygiene and home care, empowering them to look after their smiles between visits.
Receptionist
Caroline
Caroline brings over 10 years of medical reception experience, supported by strong qualifications including a Certificate III in Health Administration and a Diploma of Business Administration.
Her professionalism, warmth, and attention to detail make her a wonderful addition to our front-of-house team.
You will find Caroline's friendly face greeting you over the phone and when you come into the practice. Please do say hello the next time you visit. We know you’ll love her as much as we do!
